As severe thunderstorms rolled across Long Island yesterday evening, lightning struck part of a Long Island summer camp. A building caught fire.

Multiple Long Island fire departments received calls around 7 p.m. about the lightning strike at Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts in Wheatley Heights.

Firefighters had the fire under control within about half an hour. One building was a total loss and another sustained significant structural damage. One firefighter and one employee of the camp had minor injuries.
